FEFLOW ADVANCED TRAINING (Ekosource)

FEFLOW is widely recognised as the most comprehensive software package for subsurface flow and transport simulation. FEFLOW’s unique mesh (structured and unstructured) provides the highest degree of flexibility in all modelling processes. The software is used by leading research institutes, universities, consulting firms and government organisations all over the world. FEFLOW’s scope of application ranges from simple local scale to complex large-scale modelling. Application areas include water management, mine water, saltwater intrusion, geothermal energy, and variably saturated media.
This course will provide you with advanced knowledge of groundwater modelling using the DHI FEFLOW Software, incorporating the following topics:
• Unsaturated flow modelling
• Density-dependent flow modelling
• Heat transport, including geothermal energy systems (closed/open loop)
• Fractures and discrete features
• Multicomponent transport and chemical reactions
• Introduction to the FEFLOW programming interface and Python scripting
• Introduction to automatic model calibration with FePEST
• 3D unstructured meshes.
Cost: R 3 500.00 (Excluding VAT) per person for the whole course.

Participants will need to bring their own laptops for the training. We are keeping the training group as small as possible to enable a hands-on personal training experience and in view of this, we can only accommodate a maximum of 12 participants for the training.

Alone with my role of Global Product Specialist at DHI, I am a senior groundwater and hydrogeological advisor. My focus is customer satisfaction based on the delivery of technical solutions in applications ranging from water in mining, nuclear waste decommissioning, emerging contaminants, groundwater resources, geothermal energy and among others.
Dr Amy AllwrightNumerical Groundwater Modeller at Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS)
Amy is a geohydrologist, groundwater modeller and researcher from the Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS), University of the Free State, South Africa. Amy has a strong background in geology and chemistry. She currently gives lectures on groundwater modelling at the University of the Free State and has worked on a number of modelling projects as both a consultant and through the Institute.
