Categories

The Division focus on Individual Membership and offers the following membership categories:

STUDENT MEMBERS shall be bona-fide students who are registered at a recognised institution for higher education, are studying groundwater and who are under the age of 26. These members may be required to assist in the running of national and regional GWD conferences, seminars or courses. Student members subscribe to the GSSA Code of Conduct.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP shall be individuals whom the Division, through the Executive Committee, desires to honour for outstanding service in the field of ground water. In addition, the Division may confer Honorary Life Membership on members for meritorious and outstanding service and dedication to furthering the science and technology of ground water. Honorary members subscribe to the GSSA Code of Conduct.

ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP shall be members of the Division who are not SACNASP registered professionals in the groundwater field but have an interest, directly or indirectly, in all matters groundwater. Ordinary members subscribe to the GSSA Code of Conduct.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP shall be members that are not SACNASP registered in a groundwater specific field but are SACNASP registered in another category and/or paid-up members of and registered at any related professional body such as SAICE/ SAICA, IAH-SA, WISA, GSSA, GAKZN, NACA, IAIASA and NICOLA. This category includes graduates with degrees in geohydro/ hydrogeology that are working towards their professional registration.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP shall be members who specialize and practise in groundwater specific fields, have a recognised qualification and are professionally registered by SACNASP. They may be officials of various state departments, academics, consultants or any other individual, but are required to be (a) registered with SACNASP and (b) subscribe to both the SACNASP and GSSA Code of Conduct.

  • All members will have a listing on the website. This database will introduce and expose students to the sector. It can assist in future integration and uptake into available sector opportunities e.g. learnership programmes, finishing schools, project and programme interns as well as full-time placements.

  • Updates on GWD sector news and career opportunities.

Advertising benefits

If more than three individual members of any Organisation/ Institute / Corporation / Consultancy [Company] join the GWD, an advertisement opportunity for the company will be made available. This will include: - Logo display and live web-link to the company plus free advertisement of any events, publications or announcements.

For small consultancies, usually with only one/two members, we offer the same benefit for a small additional fee of R500.00
