The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM) is pleased to present for public comment the draft document “Draft United Nations Framework Classification for Resources Supplemental Specifications for Groundwater Resources”. (attached below)

Effective reporting of groundwater resources is crucial for policy formulation, resource management, and decision-making that aligns with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) is a global system countries and practitioners use to manage various resources. UNFC is designed to apply to all resource projects to enhance resource management and enable better-informed decisions.

We need the professional opinion of the hydrogeologists and advice in relation to the attached Draft Supplemental Groundwater Specifications to the United Nations Framework Classification For Resources that have been prepared by a group of experts facilitated by the UNECE Energy Division (which works on the UN Framework Classification for Resources).

It’s therefore key to get as many comments as possible from groundwater and water institutions and experts to the document in the public consultation by 12 December 2023 to Oudi Kgomongwe ([email protected] )  and we shall submit the comments to UNECE.

Important:

All comments will be made available to the public – anonymous submissions are not accepted. Comments sent will be posted on the UNECE website. All comments received will be posted without change; personal identifying information will not be edited from submissions. Contributors should submit only information that they wish to make available publicly.
