It was wonderful to come together again, as a community, to share knowledge, new research and innovation and expand on our networks at the 17th Groundwater Conference & Exhibition hosted by the Gauteng Branch of the Groundwater Division of the Geological Society of South Africa.

Dear GWD Members and Prospective Members
With the good rains over most parts of South Africa in spring and summer, 2022 is starting in the right direction. We can not forget the difficulties and sorrows of the last 2 years, but we can build on the lessons we learned and the opportunities created and move forward.
With the return of the students to physical classes and an office where you can not wear your PJs anymore; normality is insight in 2022.
The Groundwater Session that took place on Monday 20 September 2021, with Chair Yazeed van Wyk and speakers such as Dr Shafick Adams, Prof Matthys Dippenaar, Dr Kevin Pietersen, Dr Sumaya Israel, Mr Fanus Fourie, Mr Kes Murray and Dr Ricky Murray are 'Legend' now and for those that missed out we can just appeal to the WRC Team to make the recordings availab
As South Africa readies itself for longer and warmer days associated with the Spring, water access needs are highlighted with water uses spanning drinking, other essential and increased recreational uses.
