Hydrostratigraphic controls on groundwater arsenic enrichment in the Brahmaputra river basin aquifers

Groundwater arsenic (As) distribution in alluvial floodplains is complex and spatially heterogeneous. Floodplain evolution plays a crucial role in the fate and mobilization of As in the groundwater. This study presents how groundwater As enrichment is controlled by the spatial disposition of subsurface sand, silt, and clay layers along an N-S transect across the Brahmaputra river basin aquifer.
