Michael Ashley Botha was born in 1953 in Port Elizabeth, the first son and second eldest child of Norman and Nancy Botha. Michael was a man who made a presence in a room. Large in stature and confidence, he socialised with ease and made many lifelong friends across the country. His generosity of spirit is remembered by so many people from all walks of life and it has been heartwarming and comforting for the family to hear the stories of the many people he connected with. Michael was perhaps best known for his love for knowledge and learning. Michael flourished in his work, and he developed a strong desire to learn and educate himself. He had a keen interest in engineering and was an active member of numerous academic associations and boards. Despite leaving school at a young age, his determination saw him progress to the title of Dr. Michael Botha- a man most respected by the institutes with which he has worked. In his most recent years, Michael was well known for helping others achieve their academic dreams and dedicated much time and effort to encouraging others to overcome their challenges. We know that it would make him proud to be remembered as someone who supported and helped make knowledge and learning accessible to those who were ready to give up  ~ Ms. Lauren Minnie (Niece)
