Development of regional groundwater flow models for the Vaal Gamagara well fields
The increasing water demand for the Northern Cape Province initiated the feasibility study to augment and/or upgrade the Vaal Gamagara Water Supply (VGWS) scheme. The study completed in 2011, recommended the upgrade of the total VGWS scheme to supply the water demand of users for the planning horizon to 2030. However, short term water demand and to augment the water from the Vaal River could also be sourced from groundwater and/or mine dewatering.
