The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is currently reviewing the NWRS as per the NWA. The DWS has to this day developed the draft NWRS-3 Version 2.6 and was approved by Cabinet for public consultation. The document has since been published in the Government Gazette on 29 July 2022 under Notice 47133 for public comments over a period of 90 days from the date of publication.
