What happens when dry ground gets wet, or when wet ground gets dry? Climate change, infrastructure development, drainage and dewatering and other project life cycle implications are mostly focused around drying wet ground, or wetting dry ground. In soil. In fractured rock. In karst. These are my topics of interest. I currently work at the Department of Geology, University of Pretoria, doing research in the cross-disciplinary fields between Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Vadose Zone Hydrology.

-Drilling and pump test supervision
-Groundwater quality assessment
-Groundwater Monitoring
-Project management and Planning.
-Report writing.

I am an aspiring Geoscientist (Engineering Geologist and Hydrogeologist), who is always keen on continuous learning and development.

My career began in 2008 at GCS (PTY ) LTD. This is where I gained extensive knowledge and experience in the hydrogeological field as a hydrogelogical technician. I was mainly involved with conducting field investigation such as geophysical investigation (EM, MAG, and Resistivity), aquifer testing, drilling supervision, logging, sampling, data interpretation and technical field reports.

I joined Golder Associates Africa in 2011 as a hydrogeotechnical technician with a special focus in water supply projects. I have primary been responsible for field investigation ( Geophysical investigation, drilling supervision, management of both drilling and aquifer testing contractors) , interpretation and field technical reports.

With over 30 years of experience, I have worked in mining and exploration, groundwater consulting and mine de-watering. I have completed many geological projects, including gold and platinum exploration and was fortunate to be involved with the initial exploration and start-up of the ultra-deep Northam Platinum mine and the low grade/high tonnage Tarkwa Open-cast mine. Here I led a >$1 million / year diamond drilling programme at what is now a world class operation.

My groundwater consulting has exposed me to a broad spectrum of projects, including exploration and feasibility studies, developing water for urban municipalities and rural communities, developing sanitation/WASH protocols, compiling impact assessments for EIA's, assessing water quality and contamination investigations, monitoring and audits for environmental compliance and undertaking drought relief interventions etc.

Typically, my clients have included municipalities, government departments, NGO's, property developers, organised agriculture, manufacturing and industry, waste disposal contractors, renewable energy utilities and bottled water plants etc
