Presentation 1 – Hydropedology 101
Wayne Jackson
An introduction to hydropedological assessments within the environmental sector aimed at providing an understanding on what hydropedology is and why it is required. The goal is to give a broad overview of the inputs required as well as how the results are interpreted.
Wayne is an experienced Wetlands & Soils Scientist with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry for over a decade.
He is skilled in Soil Classification, Wetlands, Hydropedology, and Surface Water Hydrology. He is knowledgeable on how soils, wetlands, and hydrological systems are linked in the landscape and how activities could impact all these aspects.
Presentation 2 – National Groundwater Information System (NGIS)
Hendrika Visagie
Systems available within the NGIS - A summary of the objectives, philosophy, functionality and accessibility of the systems within the NGIS Portfolio.
Hendrika (Driekie) is the Chief Assistant Scientific Support Officer at the Department of Water and Sanitation and works under the Directorate Surface and Groundwater Information. She is the Ambassador User of the National Groundwater Information Systems and is responsible for upkeep of user requirements, user acceptance testing and training, as well as groundwater data quality auditing.
