Nobel Peace Prize winner to speak at forthcoming WISA Mine Water Division Symposium

The WISA Mine Water Division is delighted to announce that registration for its forthcoming Annual Symposium is open, and this year's theme is Management Options for Mine Water.

Come and hear Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof. Coleen Vogel, among other leading speakers, in Pretoria in November!

HIGHLIGHTED SPEAKER

Prof. Coleen Vogel of the University of the Witwatersand, Johannesburg is a climatologist by training but has increasingly worked in the social dimensions of climate change adaptation. She has chaired and been vice chair of global environmental change scientific committees, groups that preceded the current Future Earth developments. She serves on international boards including the African science committee of Future Earth. She has assisted several government-related development activities in South Africa and was a contributor to the Disaster Management Act process. She was one of the chapter lead authors of the Fourth IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Africa Chapter and part of the final synthesis author panel of that report, and was a chapter author of the 5th Assessment of the IPCC. A Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the author team together with Al Gore for the efforts made in compiling the 4th assessment report.
