A service provider to the resources industry, is looking for a candidate for the above position in our Bryanston office.  The successful candidate will be required to provide advice in terms of water quality and quantity monitoring, analysis and hydrological assessment.

 Job Objectives:

  • Provide the hydrological input into EIA/EMP/IWWMP and IWULA
  •  Conduct water quantity/quality monitoring as part of baseline assessment
  •  Conduct flood line modelling and hydrological assessments
  •  Use of HEC_RAS and other hydrology software
  •  Develop Water and salt balances
  •  Ensure that the quality of results meets company’s internal standards;
  •  Assist  in  the  preparation  of  water  permit  applications  and  other  regulatory documents;
  •  Conduct field work including site reconnaissance, water quality sampling, etc.;
  •  Report writing.


  • Time and budget management
  •  Project management implementation
  •  Communication (written and oral)
  •  Self-motivated and creative
  •  Understanding of the National Water Act and DWS guidelines
  •  Must be in possession of a driver’s licence.
  •  Must be willing to travel throughout Africa and elsewhere, as the need arises.

 Qualifications: BSc/ BES degree (MSc preferred) in Hydrology.

 Work experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Hydrology and 1-2 years’ experience in consulting.
  • Project management experience would be an advantage.
  • ArcGIS software and hydrological engineering knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge of mining sector would be helpful.

A vacancy opened for a mid to senior level Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeller in either the JHB/Pretoria Office. The position requires at 5-15 years’ experience in Hydrogeology and at least 3-10 years’ experience in Modelling. Qualifications required for the position is a BSc Honours degree in Hydrogeology. An M.Sc degree and the ability to speak French will be an advantage.

 Job Skills:

  • Ability to manage complex groundwater projects/components
  • A good understanding of water related issues in the mining sector
  • Fieldwork and subcontractor management
  • Excellent data interpretation skills and formulation of hydrogeological conceptual models
  • Conceptual and numerical models
  • Knowledge and experience in Reporting

  • Good numerical modelling skills

  • Good communication and client skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills (MS Office, GIS, Finite Element/Finite Difference Modelling)

This position requires a Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeller who manages complex hydrogeological projects related to the mining sector. Groundwater modelling experience is required. The candidate must be able to work independently and/or as a team with engineers, environmentalists, hydrologists and geochemists.

Remuneration:  Total  Cost  to  Company  Package  will  be  negotiated  according  to  the candidate’s knowledge and experience.
