The course is valuable to practicing engineers and scientists in the environmental field. It comprises a knowledge review, discussion forum and case studies. OUTLINE OF COURSE CONTENT The following topics will be covered in the course content: Background aspects 1. The legal framework for environmental systems-plus ISO 14001/19000 2. Environmental management practices including EIM, EMS, and SEA(1/2 day) 3. Life cycle assessment and engineering 4. Biological and ecological aspects of environmental Systems. 5. Environmental/natural resources economics. 6. Environmental auditing. 7. Environmental impact assessments. 8. Strategies for waste reduction and disposal. 9. Air pollution control strategies.
